Hi! I’m Sarah, the creator behind Acoustically Arched
About Acoustically Arched
Acoustically Arched is a play on music and architecture. “Acoustically” is a term that can be used in relation to the study of sound. Arched refers to applying the structural element, or breaks down into “arch” and “ed” short for architecture and education respectively.
About Sarah
A little bit about me, I’ve wanted to be an architect since I was a kid and discovered Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water. Before then, I was drawing “floor plans” of my dream houses before I knew it was a career. That being said, I had no idea what I was in for when I went to school to finally study architecture. I remember showing up to campus a week early for band camp, only to have everyone I talk to after I say my major go, “Oh my god, how are you gonna do that?” I’m sorry…huh? What did I get myself into?

About My Education
I got my BA in Architectural Studies and a music minor (I studied the euphonium, but also play flute and piano) from Kent State University in 2020. I then went on to get my M.Arch at Roger Williams University and graduated in 2025. Almost ten years on and off, I took the longer path. I struggled. I didn’t want to give up music, the thing that kept me sane. My break from architecture.

About My Mission
My experience with having other interests (as well as having an invisible illness – Crohn’s Disease) and trying to pursue this difficult major is not an anomaly. Many people who love architecture give up on this career path. But unfortunately it’s often the voices we need. Those with disabilities, people of color, and even women are still disproportionately affected by societal norms that can keep them from succeeding in this field.
Architecture school is hard for everyone, but is that by design? How can we make architecture education more accessible to the general public, therefore creating more diversity in the field? More perspectives create better designs for everyone. Here, I want to create a space where you can learn to create better spaces for yourself and others.
